First of all, let me say a big thank you to all of you for the love on my birthday , it was amazing! May God always remember you and yours for good. Okay birthday over, it’s back to work! I was looking through my phone and I stumbled on some things, well, more like affirmations that I think we all should remind ourselves of everyday because of how important they are to our daily lives, success, mental health and overall well-being. Today I’ll be sharing 7 of those affirmations and why we need to remind ourselves everyday!
How has been your week so far? Amazing I’m sure!
Remember I said I’ll let you know if I was ever surprised, yes I was first surprised with a very big cake by a lovely family, that one had me all ‘emosh’ , then I got a call from a radio station to wish me happy birthday. I may or may not have embarrassed myself on live radio guys, I thought my friend was prank calling me, and it was almost a mess, thank God it wasn’t worse! To cut it all short, I had a fab day!
To the business of the day,
We go through life everyday, and we meet different people; some of who might not understand us or our purpose. We may also encounter several challenges that drain us in every aspect, I could go on, but I’m sure you get the drift. For us to successfully navigate our way through this journey, there are certain things we need to understand, as well as remind ourselves of. These things will help us put people, places, situations in perspective, so as to enable us move forward.
Affirmation #1 : Your value does not decrease based on someone’s inability to see your worth.
You need to understand that no matter how high your self esteem and confidence levels are, there are people out there who are ready to punch holes in them! Now, yours is not to worry about them, they’re not your problem. Once you’re able to put them in the right perspective that they’re simply human beings like yourself and you don’t require their validation, you just keep going! Eventually, your success will open their eyes wide. Here’s another twist, some of these said individuals are not even mad at you, some are simply fed up of things in their own life that don’t seem to work, and so, although they know your value alright, they will never admit it, they’d rather you continue to feel like you’re not good enough. It’s a good thing that you’re reading this post today, because now you know that it’s not you, it’s them.
Affirmation #2 : You are not a waste of space, remember that.
Major key alert here. You’re super important, and you need to remember that. You’re definitely not a waste of space, nor a waste of time. You may not have discovered it yet, but there’s a purpose for which you were created. You could have been made a stone or any other inanimate object, but because you’re of major importance to what goes on in this planet, you came as a human being-with life. Isn’t that something worth celebrating? Remember always that you’re extremely important and that’s why you’re still here.
Affirmation #3 : No one is you, and that is your power.
You’ve probably seen this a gazillion times, but do you really understand it? Does the fact that your uniqueness is literally one in a million sink in? If you follow this blog closely, you’d know that one of my favourite things to say is “thrive in your own individuality” and I say it unapologetically because you’re one of kind and you should embrace it. You have certain traits and characteristics that even your twin doesn’t have, and this is what changes the game for you, again I say only if you embrace it. Some may refer to you as ‘weird’ because they can’t even understand your thoughts and actions, but like my good friend Ife will say, it’s Where Everything Is Really Different (see what I did there?) So, how do you expect them to comprehend it? You’re you and that is your power. Never forget.
Affirmation #4 : You’re allowed to scream, cry, but do not give up.
One of the words I always hold on to when it gets rough, is ‘what you’re going through is preparing you for what you prayed for’ I think it’s something like that. My point is, a life completely free of challenges and issues simply doesn’t exist. In every stage of life, there’s an issue fashioned just for that level, we can only do our best to manage them. So therefore, you can scream, cry, break stuff as long as it’s yours, but you’re not allowed to give up. Look for your coping mechanism and put it to work, eventually everything will fall into place, just hold on a little longer.
Affirmation #5 : Go For It!
Either it works, or it doesn’t, it’s life. But you’d remain in the same place if you don’t take that step forward. Sometimes, you might get disappointed, and it’d look as if it’s the end of the world, but it’s not really. Pick yourself up and try again. Remember “Fortune sides with him who dares”.
Affirmation #6 : Just because it’s not happening right now doesn’t mean it never will.
Patience is a virtue, they say. Often times, we may have to wait before some of our desires are achieved. At the time, it may look as if all the odds are against us, and it may never get better, but it may just be that we’re not ready for that particular thing at that particular time. Hence, it’s been delayed until when we can fully utilise it to our benefits. Don’t lose hope just because it’s not happening now, never say never.
Affirmation #7 : Detach and protect your energy from toxic people.
As their names implies, these set of people can do harm to you and your wellbeing without you even knowing. You’d just discover that there’s a shift in your mindset and action, and I’m not talking about a positive shift here. Now, toxic people have a way of downplaying your decisions on growth and expansion, that you’d begin to think it’s not even necessary. What do you do? Detach and project your energy from these kinds of people before it becomes a case of self destruction.
