3 YEARS BLOGVERSARY, A TAG AND A GIVEAWAY!

As at yesterday, I wasn’t really feeling celebratory at all, because I was extremely tired both physically and mentally, but waking up this morning, I was weirdly feeling like it’s my birthday and it just made me laugh. My bible says in Psalms 90:12 “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”. Today that is exactly what I’ll be doing with the blog. This journey started 3 years ago with me completely clueless but it is an entirely different story today, and it’s all thanks to YOU. Today as I celebrate my 3 years blogversary , I’ve decided to share a little bit about my blogging journey using a tag I found on Pinterest, and there’s also a giveaway! So you might want to stick around.

The “ABOUT MY BLOG” Tag

1) WHY DID YOU START A BLOG?
One night I was on Google checking for ways to improve on my writing, and one of them was to start a blog. Before then, I had been writing a bit, so I decided to explore my options and go for it, even though I spent hours setting up.

2) HOW HAS YOUR BLOG TRANSFORMED?
Honestly, it has in so many ways. Right now, I feel like I’m more intentional about everything. From having a post schedule, seeking for inspiration for more content, pitching for collaborations, taking pictures, etc. These days I’m just all about how to grow from the level of just being a hobby into something that can actually become a reference point.

3) HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED AS A RESULT OF BLOGGING?
I’ve grown so much, that it even amazes me. Blogging has made me put myself out there more. I’m constantly researching, working on my vocabulary, looking for events that I can attend, reading books, searching for trends, to mention but few. Now I’m more certain about being a writer, and it has even helped me to land some freelance gigs! So yeah I have definitely changed a whole lot.

4) WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED TO KEEP BLOGGING?
The thought that there are people who enjoy and learn from the content I put out there, is enough motivation for me. The support and love you guys show me even when I’m struggling with what next to put up just has a way of ‘gingering’ me. Also when I think of the level that I want this blog to be, I am even more motivated.

5) HOW DO YOU FIGHT OFF BLOGGER’S BLOCK?
Whether it’s blogger’s block or writer’s block, any type of block is not always funny. It’s like the creative juice just refuses to flow and you’re stuck. However, I’ve realized that some times, I just need to be away from my phone, the internet and every other form of distraction, lay on my bed and the ideas just start pouring in, this has helped me countless times. Other times, I probably just need a long shower, and in the process of talking to myself, my creative juice begins to flow again. If these do not work, then I turn to my other best friend; the internet.

6) WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BLOGGING SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM AND WHY?
I absolutely love Twitter! The fact that you can promote your posts at any time is one of the reasons that app has my heart. There are also a lot of blogging groups and communities that help you publicize your posts and your blog just by tagging them. There’s a lot of support on Twitter in my opinion, but there’s also a lot of pettiness and shade if that’s your thing, but generally Twitter is fun and very helpful!

7) WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR BLOG NAME?
Nothing too serious, one of the reasons is that I’m a portable lady, but if you want a more detailed story, you can check here the name sort of called out to me, lol.

8) HOW DO YOU APPROACH OTHERS TO TELL THEM YOU HAVE A BLOG?
In time past, I wasn’t always keen on telling people that I’m a blogger, I think my friends helped me advertise more than I ever did. This was because I felt I wasn’t ‘there’ yet, so I wasn’t too confident. I remember one time when I was having lunch with my dad at a restaurant, and I was so pleased with the place and their service, so I told my dad that I might do a review of the place on my blog.

Then as I was in the process of asking the waitress for their social media handles, my dad quickly told her that I was a blogger and I want to review their restaurant, I was looking at him, he just said “you better tell them, you don’t know what can happen from there.” That actually boosted my confidence level , now it’s even more fun to tell people because I have a card. So I’ve joined the “this is my card” gang. I know a lot of people that blogging has created opportunities for, and so even though I am still growing in the blogosphere, I am confident and delighted to tell people I am a blogger.

9) WHAT IS THAT ONE THING YOU KNEW BEFORE YOU STARTED BLOGGING?
Absolutely nothing. I literally learned on the job.

10) DOES BLOGGING EVER OVERWHELM YOU? IF SO, WHEN?
Most definitely. When it’s time to promote posts, I always feel like I need to hire somebody to do it for me. (Can I get a witness?) The whole process can be so overwhelming, because you need to promote across various social media platforms while thinking of catchy captions that will interest your readers. In fact, a lot of aspects in blogging can be very overwhelming, you just have to find the system that works for you and stick with it.

I hope you liked the tag? I do, because I got personal with you guys and I always love doing that.

  1. Yaaaaaaaaaay, congratulations Mide. From the little time I have been following your blog, you have amazed me in plenty ways and I always learn a lesson or two at the end of each of your blog post especially the Monday motivation posts. Infact, I always look forward to new posts from you every Mondays and Thursdays.

I am proud of how much you have come and where you are going to. I love the tags, and I am one of the lazy people about promoting my blog post. I currently have a new post and I am yet to even share at all on any platform, lazy much.

  10. It’s this year I got more comfortable talking about my blog. It had to with being a perfectionist but now I know done is better than perfect. Perfect is in fact sometimes the enemy of ‘done’.
I was surprised by the idea of having a card. Never thought of that before. Intriguing.
    Happy 3yrs + blogging.

  11. ‘Perfect is sometimes the enemy of done’
Love that! I can so relate with all you’ve said, but thank God you’re now comfortable talking about your Blog, it’s an amazing thing really. About the card, yes it’s sort of important because it’s all part of branding, and your blog is part of your brand. Getting a card makes it easier for you to tell people about what you do, and gives it a professional approach.
Thanks for stopping by Debby! 💓
